“Maria Ortega is a self taught, freelance makeup artist based in NYC. Originally from California, Maria moved to New York to pursue her dream of becoming an established makeup artist. From a young age, Maria developed love for color, painting and makeup. Her inspiration is her mother whom she observed in awe as a child as she applied makeup and owes her love for makeup to her mother.
Although Maria has no formal training in makeup or hair, she has worked in almost all facets of makeup. She has done makeup for numerous brides, fashion shows, special events and is constantly working with agency represented models and professional fashion photographers. Besides doing traditional makeup Maria also offers airbrush makeup application and feels more than comfortable working with men and women of all skin tones, types, colors and ethnic backgrounds.
Maria’s icons in makeup are her mother and the late, Kevyn Aucoin.”
